Tour of the Deep South

Tour Profile: A must have for music fans, this tour takes you to Chicago, Nashville, Memphis and then onto New Orleans to soak up the atmosphere along the famous Bourbon Street.

Tour Length: 13 Days

Day 1

Fly to Chicago and on arrival transfer to your hotel for the night.


Day 2

Take a guided tour of the city which is built around Lake Michigan. Chicago is a stunning city with fantastic skyline views - the view from the top of the Sears building offers a breathtaking picture of the Lake and beyond. In the evening, visit one of the many comedy clubs, or the famous House of Blues.

Day 3

Explore the stretch of Michigan Avenue from the Chicago river through Magnificent Mile. Here you will find world class shops and the water tower - one of the only buildings to survive the great fire of 1871. Also visit the John Hancock Center which has fantastic views.


Day 4-7

Fly from Chicago to Nashville - the country music capital of the world. There is a lot to explore in Nashville, such as the Parthenon, Country Music Hall of Fame and Music Row. Visit Opry Mills Mall which is a shopper's paradise, covering 1.5 million square feet and hosting an array of high street and designer stores.

Day 7

After exploring Nashville you will pick up a rental car and take a drive from Nashville to Memphis, following the Mississippi River. If you are an Elvis fan, stop en route in Tupelo where you can visit Elvis Presley's birthplace. Stay overnight at the Heartbreak Hotel which is close to the famous Beale Street.

Day 8

Take a tour of Graceland, the 14 acre shrine of Elvis Presley. You will see his two private jets, and get a glimpse of his lavish lifestyle. In the afternoon, visit Sun Studios on Union Street where famous names such as Elvis, BB King and Roy Orbison made their first recordings.

Day 9

Visit the Rock'n'Roll Soul Exhibition which explorers personalities who revolutionised the music industry. From the Blues of BB King, to the Rock of Jerry Lee Lewis, right through to the Soul of Otis Redding this is a truly memorable experience for any music fan.

Day 10

Make your way to the railway station and catch the City of New Orleans train, which arrive into New Orleans in the afternoon. Take a brief orientation tour of the city and stay at hotel close to the French Quarter at the heart of New Orleans.

Day 11

Take a tour along Bourbon Street in the French Quarter and soak up the atmosphere. There are plenty of dining options - ensure you sample some of the city's famous Creole and Cajun cuisine. Make sure you visit Pat O'Briens - the famous duelling piano bar. In the evening take a dinner cruise on board the Natchez - a genuine paddle steamer on the Mississippi River.

Day 12

You'll visit the Jackson Square museum, and ride on the famous St Charles Streetcar. The state of Louisiana offers tax free shopping for international visitors at over 1000 stores, so shopping in New Orleans is a must.

Day 13

Fly from New Orleans back to London.
