Ecuador & The Galapagos

Tour Profile:This itinerary includes trips to the Pichincha volcano, Reserva Amazonica and Ica - the wine capital of Peru. You will also visit Lonesome George on the Galapagos Islands on a 3 night trip.

Tour Length: 20 Days

Day 1

Depart from London Heathrow to Quito. Here you will transfer to Hilton Colon for a 2 night stay. Relax in the Fitness Center & Spa, complete with outdoor heated pool. Choose from 5 dining experiences, including gourmet Mediterranean at Portofino and Japanese cuisine.

Pichincha

Day 2

Excursion to Quito, the second highest capital in the world, nestled at the base of the Pichincha volcano. You'll also visit the Colonial sector and the Middle of the World - the very center of the earth at latitude 0 degrees.

Galapagos

Day 3 - 6

Check out of the Hilton Colon, and take a flight to the Galapagos Islands. You will embark on a 3 night cruise on board the M/V Galapagos Explorer. The cruise includes full guided excursions, and plenty of activities including a visit to see Lonesome George, the last surviving Galapagos Pinta Tortoise.

At the end of the cruise, you will transfer to the airport for a flight to Guayaquil. You will stay overnight at the Hilton Colon.

Day 7

In the morning you will have a sightseeing tour visiting the Centennial Park, Bolivar Park and the open market of La Bahia. Transfer to the airport for the onward flight to Lima. Stay at the 5* Melia Lima Hotel for 2 nights.

Day 8

Day 8 will be spent touring Lima, visiting San Martin Square, the Government Palace, the Archbishop Palace and the Moorish balconies. The tour will continue through the traditional residential areas of Lima, San Isidro Olivar, with olives brought from Spain in the XVI century.

Day 9-11

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Puerto Maldando. On arrival you will take the Reserva Amazonica bus to the city's river port, and then go by boat to the Reserva Amazonica Lodge where you will be staying. The wildlife here includes toucans, tamarind monkeys, and Southern Amazon red squirrels.

Day 12

Transfer to the airport to take a flight to Cuzco. You will spend the night at the Novotel Cusc Hotel.

Day 13

In the morning you will be taken to Ollantaytambo, an Ican vestige that was a military, religious and agricultural centre. After driving through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, you arrive in Piscav, a beautiful town famous for its craft market. Stay overnight at the Soly Luna Hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 14

Take the train to the Aguas Calientes station in Machu Picchu where you will be transported by bus to the top of the mountain. Tonight you will stay at the Machu Picchu Mapi Pueblo Hotel.

Day 15

In the morning you have some free time to enjoy a second visit to the ruins. In the afternoon you will return to Cuzco by train and stay overnight at the Novotel Cuzco Hotel.

Day 16

Transfer to the station to board your bus to Puno. Along this route you will see herds of alpaca and llamas, interspersed with small villages, and the majestic backdrop of the Andes On arrival in Puno transfer to the Posada Hotel.

Day 17

A full day visit to the highest lake in the world - Lake Titicaca. The enormous lake straddles the border between Peru and Bolivia and is the largest in South America. You will visit the Island of Taquile, where after a strenuous climb of 600 steps you will rewarded by the amazing views of the surrounding lakes and mountains.

Day 18

Transfer for the flight back to Lima. Arrive and Lima and transfer to the hotel.

Day 19

Embark on a 4 hour bus drive through the Pan-American Highway to Ica, Wine capital of Peru. Arrive and check in at the Las Dunas Hotel. You will then go to the local airport to board a propeller plane for a fly-over of the enigmatic Nazca lines - which can only be truly appreciated from the air. Return to Lima.

Day 20

Transfer to the airport for the flights back to London.
